Today is National Boy Scouts Day - and people always ask if the Kuju story of being founded by two Eagle Scout brothers who got tired of instant coffee while camping is true. And our answer is, of course it is! But to prove it, we thought this was a great time to share our Kickstarter video that never launched (with a Boy Scout uniform in the background, complete with merit badges and sash).
Enjoy! And grit your teeth while you’re at it. There’s a reason we never launched it. Totally recommend...SOUND ON.
Some additional backgrounder on how we thought to share this wonderful video!
The trend these days is to offer content that is somehow helpful and informative, as if to “mask” the promotional aspect of marketing, right? And in a way, it works! And just like coffee in the outdoors - if it’s good it’s good, and if it’s bad, then well, you probably should we upgrading to Kuju anyway - point is, we should call it like it is and always seek out and share the truth, right? So people know that what a company is saying is, actually real?
And many people ask us if that Eagle Scout story is real. We're usually confused because why would we say it if it were not? But that's beside the point.
What better way to prove that this Eagle Scout thing really is true and what better way than to go to before Kuju ever sold a single darn pour over?
We’re not talking about Summer Outdoor Retailer 2016 - we launched then but we actually had been selling at kujucoffee.com for a few months before then. What we are talking about is - our very original Kickstarter video that we never used!
It was created in the Summer of 2015 - before coffee in the outdoors ever became cool. And when the only thing at REI was some awesomely mediocre Starbucks instant stuff. Things have changed since then, but one thing hasn’t - and it’s this video (and the Boy Scout uniform in the background)!
