We were enjoying the beautiful sun after a great day of hiking through inspiring red rock formations at Red Rock Canyon, NV. O, how eager we were to arrive back to camp and make some delicious beef stew. But alas, on arrival, a trio of bears had arrived just before us...
We didn't know what do to, and we were incredibly hungry and had planned that awesome stew to complement the cool evening air - carrots, onions, beef stew cuts, salt, pepper - simple stuff! But all the better when outside right?

We just stood there, about 50 feet away, just watching the bears casually walk through our site, sniffing our tents, coolers, fire pit, benches, chairs..everything. Despite the hunger, there was something so meditative about it - the wildness and unpredictability of it all - incredible animals roaming our campsite...but I digress.
20 minutes pass and they alas, they find our coolers and quickly open them as if they'd done this before, at this campsite. And in less than 5 minutes gone went the carrots, onions, and beef stew ingredients, and cooler lids. We were dismayed but there was one thing that kept the pep in our step alive - our wonderful bear bags!

That just happened to include 5lbs. of Kuju's Basecamp Blend whole beans inside that were freshly roasted before being packed and shipped to us right before this incredibly camping trip.
